10 Things I’ve Learned From Veggie Tales

Veggies

Veggie Tales is one show that I don’t mind Emily watching.

Also, it’s on Netflix. So basically, it’s on a loop in our house.

And I’m here to tell you that our favorite veggies are not just for children. No ma’am.

Bob and Larry have some important lessons for us adults too. Get out your pen and paper. You’re gonna want to take notes.

  1. A thankful heart is a happy heart. Who you have is more important than what you have.
  2. Everybody has a water buffalo. Or a baby kangaroo.
  3. No fib is “little”. Also, fibs come from outer space.
  4. You should not steal. Especially duckies that belong to other people.
  5. It is ok to have a love affair with a cheeseburger.
  6. It is not ok to worship chocolate bunnies. Or chocolate anything. Step away from the ice cream.
  7. My God is bigger than the boogeyman, or any other problems I might encounter.
  8. Toddlers are more likely to eat peas if they see them on TV speaking with a French accent.
  9. I don’t mind rap music when it’s about bubble wrap.
  10. God made you special and He loves you very much. Seriously.

Truth to ponder today. Straight from the mouths of veggies. And now I’ll leave you with this video, because I bet you could use a reminder that you’re beautiful and you’re His.

Now go watch some Veggie Tales and come back and tell me what you’ve learned. :)

  1. And a favorite at our house- “I need to tell you something. I don’t got a belly button.” We love Veggie Tales too.

  2. Haha! Cute. We love Veggie Tales in our home. In fact, a friend and I just started a new Bible Study…Jonah by Priscilla Shirer. In the study, she asks us to discuss what image comes to mind when we think of Jonah, and Veggie Tales was the first thing I thought of! Jonah, the Veggie Tales movie was the first movie I took my oldest daughter to see at a movie theater a few years back. It was part of their free summer movies promotion at the theater. Cute movie!

  3. This is just too funny. And oh, so true. I have watched more than my fair share of Veggies, but I still love them. Now that my kids are getting older, I miss good ‘ol Bob and Larry. Veggie Tales really are great fun filled with important truths.

So, where is MY water buffalo?

  4. When we did the Beth Moore study on Esther, all I could picture was Mr. Lunt as Haman. Was Haman really that short? Or “Puppies are cuddly, puppies are cute…”

We had a large collection of VeggieTales before we had kids. One of my husband’s dream jobs was to work for Big Idea and do some of the voices (back when they were in IL). He can do a pretty awesome Mr. Nezzer and Pa Grape. :) My son (4 soon 5!!) now loves the 3-2-1 Penguins and repeats the dialogue to anyone who wants to hear it. He can also act out some of the parts if you would like that.

God is truly bigger than the boogeyman. I have sung that to myself on quite a few occasions – traveling through a blizzard, husband gone on a trip and I hear noises, any time I’m nervous.

    Thanks for the smile today.

  5. We moved to Malaysia recently, and were delighted to discover that water buffalo are very present in the villages outside of the city we live in. While we don’t *have* a water buffalo, we do sing about them, which is especially nice as a distraction when you’re waiting for them to move out of the road, because they ignore horns and are as big as our car. True story.
